Vanessa Aguilera, M.S., CCC-SLP
Hi, I’m Vanessa and I’m glad you’re here! I’m a California licensed and board-certified Speech-Language Pathologist who was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I love learning about new cultures, their languages, and of course, their food! I’m also fluent in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language.
I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of children and adults who experience difficulties in communication due to a variety of factors. My love for people and building relationships has always been part of who I am. I started off as a nanny for the same few families across 10 years. I also worked at an elementary school as an assistant to the director of a Deaf and hard of hearing program for several years. Here, I learned about Independent Educational Plans (IEP’s), 504 plans, classwork modifications, and academic accommodations.
When I transitioned into the world of speech pathology I worked at one of the top Children's Hospitals in the country. I have experience evaluating and treating a variety of medically complex children and diagnoses including motor speech disorders, language impairments, cognitive-linguistic impairments secondary to brain injuries, cleft palate speech sound disorders, craniofacial-related disorders, and phonological disorders. I also served on a variety of specialized teams such as an autism diagnostic team with a passion for neuro-affirming care, craniofacial evaluation team, and an early childhood assessment team with an emphasis on mental health for both the child and family.
While I do love the pediatric side of things I also have experience working with adults who have a wide range of needs and diagnoses including Parkinson's disease, strokes, dementia, apraxia, aphasia, fluency, intellectual delay, pragmatic difficulties, and more.
I’m devoted to providing the utmost family centered care possible making sure that the intervention is meaningful to both the individual as well as the family. Now that you’ve gotten to know a little bit about me I would love to learn more about you! You can e-mail or call and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
